Sylvain Mathonnière is from France. Following a preparatory school in France, he obtained his Bachelor degree in engineering at Grenoble INP Phelma, a French engineering school. He then followed his studies by a joint Master program on nanotechnologies in Grenoble INP Phelma (France), EPFL (Switzerland) and Politecnico di Torino (Italy).
Interested in optoelectronics applications, he decided to join the Mid-TECH project on the fabrication of laser at the Humboldt University in Berlin. His work focuses on the design and fabrication of LWIR Quantum Cascade Laser (10-25 µm) for medical applications.
