Applied Semiconductor Physics Group

The Applied Semiconductor Physics Group headed by Prof. Masselink is interested in the physics and applications of novel semiconductor heterostructures and nanostructures.  An important component of their work is the growth and materials science of III-V heterostructures, grown using gas-source molecular-beam epitaxy (GSMBE).

On-going research can be categorised as follows:

Quantum Cascade Lasers
Phosphide based LEDs
Self-organised Quantum Dots and Quantum Wires
Micro-Hall Sensors
Compliant Universal Substrates
Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors
