Lichun Meng is from China. He received his B.Sc. in Optical Information Science and Technology from Nankai University in 2012 and his M.Sc. in Photonics from Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany in 2015. During his Master programme, he worked in Fraunhofer IOF and did research on 3D surface measurement sensor based on fringe projection technology.
In November 2015, he was enrolled as a PhD student at DTU Fotonik, Technical University of Denmark. As a part of Mid-TECH, his project focuses on the investigation of new DIAL systems for remote greenhouse gas sensing based on the upconversion detection technology, which has the advantage of high quantum efficiency and low dark noise. The system is expected to achieve the required sensitivity for the detection of weak mid-IR signal due to an improved S/N ratio over conventional detection means.
